Review
Mis-led took the stage at 8.45pm, and
immediately I was time-warped back to 1977, the early days of punk,
where the teenagers formed bands and played fast, catchy songs written
with anger and frustration from the stagnent situation of the times.
Starting off with their version of Nirvana's "Smells like teen spirit"
and playing another ten songs, which included a blistering version of
The Sex Pistols "God Save The Queen", Lead-Singer Charlie was born to
entertain. If you get the chance, go and see this band. (www.myspace.com/misledofficial)
Room 101 hit the stage at 9.40pm, with a
point to prove, after the last outing at Marlborough Town Football Club.
Starting off with the usual Classic "New Generation" and also
introducing three new songs into the set, they rapidly ploughed there
way through 12 short fast catchy numbers, including a cover of The
Damned's "New Rose" and The Ramones "Blitzkreig Bop" and "Let's Dance"
All in all, a far better performance than back in July, and it show's
that they've learnt from the mistakes and got better for them. (www.myspace.com/room101band)
At 10.30, Throwing Paper Aeroplanes took to
the stage. This band has won numerous battle of the band competitions,
so it was obvious that they would be a polished act, although they
claimed not to have gigged since winning the Marlborough Town Football
Club Battle of the Bands back in November. Think Blink 182 etc, and you
know what to expect. (www.myspace.com/tpauk)
In summary, on tonight's performances, any
of these bands are worth checking out. Gig dates are on their Myspace
sites advertised above. If you love live music, do yourselves a favour
and go see these three......
