History (2020-2022)
2020 was a bad year for all bands and solo artists. We played two gigs before the COVID 19 pandemic struck and cancelled all gigs and social gatherings. On the plus side, we went in to Studio Six in Royal Wootton Bassett and recorded the "War is Peace" EP. 2021 started slowly, with Covid still very much present. Despite this, we had two gigs late on in the year. The Cotswold Inn in Cheltenham, and we also played Swindon Shuffle - a weekend of original music, in a number of pubs in Swindon. We played at The Castle. The final gig of the year had to be cancelled, as Shaggy caught Covid, and was in isolation. We had also arranged for Danny Silvers to drum at this gig, as Steve had slipped a disc in his back. We think this was while using an unfamiliar drumkit at the Shuffle. 2022 was another slow year, although it started well with a gig at The Castle (Swindon) in March, and a gig at The Cotswold (Cheltenham) in April. We were booked to play a Family Music Festival at Newbury Showground in June, but that was cancelled due the venue (allegedly) being double booked. A second gig at The Cotswold in July had to be postponed, due to Shaggy developing Sciatica, and struggling to walk freely. This was rearranged for November that year. We went into Mooncalf Studios in early September, and recorded eight covers, for a demo to hand out to venues. The songs picked were Alternative Ulster (SLF), Teenage Kicks (The Undertones), If The Kids are United (Sham 69), Blitzkrieg Bop (The Ramones) and Troops of Tomorrow (The Vibrators). The other three songs Damage Case (Motorhead), Head Kicked In.. (The Rezillos) and Love Song (The Damned) were recorded to fill out the rest of the time. A last minute gig at The Wheatsheaf (Calne) became available in late September. The bar staff seemed suitably impressed, and assured us that they would have us back. October 1st, we were due to play at The Castle again, but transport issues put a stop to that. We played our final gig of the year in Cheltenham, at The Cotswold Inn, on November 4th. |
